Florida oil spill update: BP’s Corexit coverup, will we ever know the truth?

EPA whistleblower, and founding organizational member, Hugh Kaufman spoke on Democracy Now regarding BP’s Corexit coverup. Now, those across the nation ask, “Will we ever know the truth?”

BP is fined for the amount of oil it spills into the Gulf, but thanks to their handy little chemical buddyCorexit, they can eat up the oil without the truth ever being fully known.

Just how many barrels of oil spilled into the Gulf of Mexico? Was that 5,000 barrels, 10,000, barrels, 90,000 barrels going once, going twice, and sold to the man standing by the Gulf of Mexico cleaning up the coast without a respiratory mask or hazmat gear because it might incite public fear.

Yes folks, we will never know the true extent of the oil spill, we will never see the photos showing what is happening underwater to marine life, and we will never know how many sea turtles, dolphins, fish and other organisms are simply bleeding to death while gasping for air under the thick sludge of light ‘sweet’ crude oil.

What will happen when all the Corexit mixes in with a hurricane? If you’re to listen to your friendly Uncle Sam, absolutely nothing folks. That oil and Corexit will just keep on weathering until it whittles into oblivion and everything gets back to pristine white sandy beaches and tourists drinking Pina Coladas while digging their toes in nicely warmed sand.

Don’t worry folks, you won’t find layer after layer of oil built up under that sand, and sure, the ivory tones may be replaced with a sheet of off white, but don’t let that get you down. Hey, did anyone say we’re getting more money for tourism? Oh, BP said no, okay well we’ll just bring the tourists here with our tasty seafood and beautiful condominiums.

Once that hurricane blows on by, everything will be hunky dory.

Oh, what about all those workers who used Corexit during the Exxon Valdez spill? What was that, oh, they’re dead. Yeah, I guess I see your point.

No need to worry, folks. Good ole Uncle Sam tested the stuff 20 years ago. Sure they’re no longer with us, but it’s okay. Corexit is safe now. What no additional testing? Really, folks there’s nothing to worry about. They tested Corexit on plenty of subjects 20 years ago, the EPA says its fine, it must be.

Right?

Anyway,
how else is BP going to stay in business?
